Matthew P. Gotthold

Pediatrics

Dr. Matt Gotthold grew up 10 minutes outside of Philadelphia, in Merchantville, New Jersey. It was there that he met his future wife, Diana, in kindergarten. Living 1/2 block from a public park, he spent endless hours running around the playground, and shooting baskets, playing baseball, wiffle ball, and football with the other kids in the neighborhood.

He is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College and Hahnemann University Medical College. Dr. Gotthold completed his pediatric residency training in the Christiana Care/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children/Thomas Jefferson University program.

Dr. Gotthold was very fortunate when, upon completing his residency in 1994, he was asked by Forrest Hawkins, MD to assume Dr. Hawkins’ established and well-respected Pediatrics practice in North Wilmington upon Dr. Hawkins’ retirement. His good fortune has continued over the years, with the addition of Delaware Pediatrics’ other providers and staff.   He is a Board-Certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Gotthold and his wife are the very proud parents of 3 children, Victoria, Christina, and Justin, and have 2 chocolate labs.

“So many interests, so little time”. Aside from the cherished time he spends with his family, Matt enjoys music (especially the blues, roots, and alternative country), sports (Eagles and Phillies), reading, cooking, gardening, hiking and making vain attempts to complete dozens of half-finished “projects”.

Dr. Matt sees patients at both our North Wilmington and Appoquinimink Locations.
